One is dead and at least eleven people were injured when a bomb exploded outside a mobile shop in the Egyptian city of Mahallah on Friday.
Militant opponents of the regime regularly set off bombs in Egyptian cities, many of them directed at the police, since the military coup against the Islamist president Mohamed Mursi in 2013 and the subsequent persecution of his followers.
Friday's bomb exploded late evening on the main street in Mahallah A city 115 km north of Cairo. In recent weeks several bombs have gone off outside mobile shops in Cairo.
Mahallah was a center of constant strikes among textile workers and in 2008 there was a massive strike which is considered by some to be one of the reasons for the Egyptian Arab Spring and the uprising against President Hosni Mubarak in 2011.
