Several hundred people were evacuated when a fierce fire broke out in the 336 meter high skyscraper Torch Tower in Dubai on Friday night.

Many suffered smoke contamination, but according to health professionals no people lost their life in the flames.

After about three hours, local media reported that the flames were under control. The numbers on how many people were evacuated are ranging from several hundred to several thousand.

The flames on Friday night raged in the upper part of the 79-storey skyscraper Torch Tower. Dramatic images on social media showed large flames from several floors of the 79-storey building.
