Greece's former Prime Minister ran off with the bathroom soap
Greece is in financial difficulty, and now the Greeks have stopped paying taxes.

The Left Party SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras is Greece's new prime minister. That means he now occupies the prime minister property Maximos.

The residence is in a quite illustrative condition for the country's hopeless situation, where the economy is in ruins and the political climate of cooperation is lousy.

Tsipras moved into a residence without electricity, without a password to the web and where even the soap has been snatched by Antonis Samaras when he moved out.

- We sit in the dark. We have no internet, no email, no way to communicate with each other. It has never happened before and shows that Samaras people have neither manners or decency, says a bureaucrat who for years have worked for various governments, according to Spiegel.

Tsipras won the election by among other things promise reversals of the many emergency measures that Samaras has introduced.

And he evidently taken on the word by the Greeks, as many of them have stopped paying taxes, which they are required to do as part of the reform demands by the EU. Election winner Syriza has promised to ease the tax burden for ordinary people, including removing the hated housing tax that were imposed in 2013.

The dentist Angeliki Mousouri openly admits that she dropped paying tax in December.

- I do not expect to be punished. If Syriza is in government, they will bear with taxpayers with limited income, she said to the Financial Times before the election.

Neither ordinary Greeks or wealthy shipping companies believes they can contribute to get Greece's economy on its feet again. The country is still in the group with the lowest tax level in Europe.
