Threats of terror attacks against American targets is why Homeland Security is increasing security measures at government buildings in Washington.
Also elsewhere in the country the safety of government buildings will be increased, according to the department.
- The reason is quite obvious: The repeated threats from terrorist organizations to attack the US and elsewhere, including threats of attacks against government personnel, Secretary Jeh Johnson, said in a statement, according to AFP.
The attack on the parliament in Canada also has been a contributing factor to why the Americans decided to raise the terror alert.
- Given the world situation, it is wise to enhance security in the protection of US government buildings and our personnel, Johnson says.
- The measures we are implementing will vary from place to place, and will be evaluated continuously, it also states in the press release.
