A seven-year-old girl in Malling, Denmark, was chased by a man with a knife when she was on her way to school on Tuesday morning. The man had followed her in a car - and was dressed as a clown.

- We were alerted around 13:00, by the the girl's school. The girl had explained to the school staff that she passed a dark car, where there were several men. One of the men was dressed as a clown, he jumped out of the car and ran after her, says Per Bennekov of the East Jutland police to Ekstrabladet.

The seven-year-old girl also told that the clown seemed to hold a knife. If the knife was real or not, the police cannot say.

The police look very serious at the incident and will now investigate the incident further.

- When a seven-year-old girl feels threatened that way on her way to school, then it's not a joke. We are of course very interested in hearing from witnesses in the area, who may have seen something suspicious, says Per Bennekov.
