SWEDEN -- A 25-year-old man was found shot in Malmö during the night. He was taken to hospital but died from the injuries.

Police have launched a preliminary investigation of murder.

- There are witnesses and we have made certain findings, says police officer Mikael Lindh, to Aftonbladet.

The police were alerted about the injured man who was shot at 02:08 in the night between Wednesday and Thursday.

Passers-by had found him on a street in Malmö.

The man was taken to hospital with very serious injuries.

Later, the police announced that the man had died. He is identified, is 25 years old and a residents of Malmö. Relatives are informed of the death.

- What we found out so far is that he is not known by us from earlier, says Mikael Lindh.
