Swedish municipality pays criminals to stop terrorising them
Who said crime doesn't pay?

Norrköping municipality pays SEK 100,000 in salary to immigrant criminals in the affected district of Navestad in Norrköping, if they stop committing crimes, writes NT.

The money is paid out as part of the project "Stepping Stone" which in particular aims to reduce attacks against police and public safety personnel. A total of eight criminals receive SEK 100,000 each per year to stop committing crimes.

The condition for the criminals to get the money deposited into their accounts, is that they do not commit crimes between September 1 this year until 31 August 2018.

However, according to the local newspaper, three or four of those included in the project have remained criminally active. One of them, a 20 year old man, is suspected of instigating an attack on a police officer a few weeks ago when the policeman was held and had burning cigarettes thrown at him:

Policeman assaulted - Police: Not that serious

The 20-year-old is in addition to the attack, the subject of an ongoing investigation regarding violence against officials, violently resisting arrest, and drug offenses.

- It is noteworthy that the municipality again is investing taxpayers money on criminally active who are attacking police officers, to keep quiet in Navestad, says a person familiar with the case to NT.

According to NT, stoning of police officers have decreased some after the project began.

The SEK 100,000 obviously come as an addition to their current regular welfare income, a bonus.

So crime pays... big.
