DENMARK: A football match between FC Albertslund and Hundige BK in the Danish second division evolved Saturday afternoon into a veritable orgy of violence.

The home team, FC Albertslund, consisting mostly of players with foreign sounding names, got so angry with the referee and the opposing team, that they along with both coaches and supporters attacked the away team, so that both police and ambulance had to be called to the scene.

A shaken referee, Bo Bauer, tells Ekstra Bladet Sunday:

- It was totally crazy. They (the home team, ed.) Was in a bad mood from the start of the match and complained about everything. That is how football is sometimes, and I even had a good dialogue with their captain, who tried to calm them down along the way. I gave a yellow card when a player called me a racist, and then another player threatened me that he would find out where I live when the match was over and kill me. I gave him a red card. That made the crowd to go crazy. I tried to calm their bench, which was also up and running.

- Suddenly I got a fist in the back of my head. I had not seen it coming, and it went black briefly, says Bo Bauer.

He was still standing but visibly shaken and decided immediately to blow the whistle to end the match. That got both coaches and about 20 fans to go even more crazy.

- Both I and Hundiges players, who had done absolutely nothing, were attacked. I got a kick and a slap on the cheek. But then they let me be and concentrated on the opposing team. The keeper from Alberstlund gave one of the opponents a nasty head butt, and the player went to the ground. And then all the other Alberstlund players kicked him, says Bo Bauer.

It went fast, but the player who was lying down got a large number of kicks and punches, before the chairman of Albertslund threw himself over him to protect him.

- Had he not done so, I am not sure he would be able to walk today, says Bo Bauer.

The chairman also got both kicks and punches because of his otherwise heroic effort, while several other Hundige players meanwhile also were victims of kicks and punches.

The chairman of FC Albertslund, Güney Hayal, says:

- The supporters went crazy, and there was an uproar. I could not stop it. But I jumped in front of everyone and tried to save a player who was lying down, while everyone else just stood there and looked at it.

- Then came some of our players and tried to pull the crowds away, said Güney Hayal to Ekstra Bladet, adding that he the next day have a sore arm, a sore back and head, after being beaten and kicked.

- They were kicking with football boots and blows with the fists. It was chaotic, says referee Bo Bauer, who after being beaten and kicked, got to his feet and tried to take note of what was happening for the report after the match.

- We called the police, but the Alberstlund team managed to get away before the police showed up, says Bo Bauer.

For the same reason no arrests were made, but duty officer Jan Jensen from Copenhagen police told Ekstra Bladet, that three cases of violence were reported.

- There are three injured. There will be made interrogations, he says.

Opposed to the referee, Güney Hayal says that all the Alberstlund players were present when police arrived. It was, according to him, the crowd of supporters that had vanished.

For Bo Bauer, Saturday continued in the hospital, where he met several of the Hundige players.

- One was luckier than lucky. I was shocked when meeting them at the hospital. One had been lying on the field bleeding. When he tried to stand, he just fell down again.

- They were shocked and angry - like me. That this can happen, says Bo Bauer.

- I have not experienced anything like it before. Verbally, I have tried something similar, but this was completely insane. I've never even heard of anything like this before. It trumps everything else. They stormed onto the field in hooligan style, says the 40-year-old referee.

The home team had not filled in their team sheet, so it can be difficult to identify the individual violent men.

Güney Hayal says to Ekstra Bladet that he and the club will help the police to the extent it is possible to identify the perpetrators.

Hopefully the police have also managed to find the lineup of FC Albertslund, as shown on the club's fanpage on Facebook:

Claus Henrik Berg, Ilyas Haider, Serkan Koca, Emin Bascoban, Kevin R. Ruest, Atef Keys Abou-Chakrah, Malthe Jacobsen, Hüseyin Bilen, Necati Kayhan, Mark KJ, Ihsan Cimen, Faruk Gür, Waqar Ahmed, Azofeifa Basio, Erekle Kakachvili, Badr Samrawi, Güney Hayal, Ümit Gøz og Salih Keceli.
