SWEDEN -- On Monday night, police in Skåne were called out to respond to some alleged domestic disturbance in an apartment in Malmö.

But when the two policemen arrived and found the apartment, it turned out to be a false alarm. Minutes later they were told about a fire near by, so they returned to the police car, only to find the cause of the call.

The patrol car was on fire and almost burnt out, says police press officer Ewa Westford.

- When the patrol came up to the apartment, there was no trouble, it's classic. We are being tricked. It is initially being investigated as a false alarm, she says.

- That someone destroys a police car is serious, she adds.

Around the same time came an alarm that another car was set on fire in Rosengård.
The vehicle was destroyed in the fire, but no injuries reported.

Four days ago police in Skåne closed off a street after the discovery of a suspicious object in Malmö.

The bomb squad was summoned, but after a few hours it was concluded that the object was harmless, writes the Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter.

- We have had a number of similar incidents lately. A few weeks ago, shots were fired against the police station in Rosengård, and a few days ago a suspicious object was taped to a car, and someone tried to set fire to another police car, said Ewa Westford to the newspaper in connection with the incident.

She says there are obviously people who want to disturb and affect the police work.

Sydsvenskan writes Monday morning that five other cars have been set on fire during the night. All cars were parked in a parking lot in Rosengård.

Thus 26 car fires have occurred in Rosengård during the last two weeks, according to the paper.

Karin Sedvall, political expert in migration and integration issues for the Moderate Party, reacts to the burning of the police car.

On Twitter she writes: "People whose mission is to help us meet this. What is the government doing?"

Rosengård in Malmö is one of the most known problem areas in Sweden, where both unemployment, crime and the immigrant percentage is high.
