There has been an explosion near an asylum center in the German town of Zirndorf, west of Nürnberg, reports the Bayerischer Rundfunk.

Apparently, it is a suitcase filled with spray cans that has detonated.
 
The blast is said to have taken place about 200 meters from the asylum center.

The police is currently in place with a number of patrols. A spokesman for the police confirmed to ABC Online that emergency personnel were on site.

According to reports, nobody was injured.

Unknown assailants brought the suitcase, which then exploded. Witnesses have reported that several people fled from the scene.
