Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is urging the country's Muslims to stop using contraceptives.
- No Muslim families should use contraceptives in family planning, said Erdogan.
- No one should interfere with the affairs of Allah, he added.
Erdogan, a devout Muslim, has repeatedly over the years been outspoken against use of contraceptives, and has repeatedly asked the Turks to have more children.
In 2014, Erdogan claimed that it is a betrayal and treason of the Turkish nation to use contraceptives, and that all families should get at least three children, preferably more.
"For years they committed a treason of birth control in this country, seeking to dry up our bloodline. Lineage is very important both economically and spiritually," he told a couple after serving as their witness at their wedding. A video of the speech was posted online.
