Jay Z, Solange Knowles and Beyonce have broken their silence. Following the release of the shocking elevator video that shows Solange attacking Jay and Beyonce standing by.
— The family has stayed quiet for days until now.
Jay Z, his wife Beyonce and her sister Solange Knowles released a joint statement on May 15, and we have it all below. It took them four days to speak out about the video released on May 12, which showed Solange going after Jay Z in an elevator leaving the Boom Boom Room at the Standard Hotel after the Met Ball. Read the family’s statement below.
Solange Knowles & Jay Z’s Statement
Solange, Jay Z and Beyonce have proven they are indeed a family, who can make it through anything — even an explosive video being leaked of them getting into a brawl. Below is their full statement, released to the Associated Press.
“As a result of the public release of the elevator security footage from Monday, May 5th, there has been a great deal of speculation about what triggered the unfortunate incident. But the most important thing is that our family has worked through it,” the family said in a statement. “Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred. They both acknowledge their role in this private matter that has played out in the public. They both have apologized to each other and we have moved forward as a united family. The reports of Solange being intoxicated or displaying erratic behavior throughout that evening are simply false. At the end of the day families have problems and we’re no different. We love each other and above all we are family. We’ve put this behind us and hope everyone else will do the same.”
While the family did not explain what caused the fight that took place in a Standard Hotel elevator on May 5, it’s clear that they’re not letting anything tear them apart. However, it is odd that while the three of them released the statement as a family, Beyonce’s name was not mentioned once.
Why They Needed To Release A Statement
As a family, releasing the statement was absolutely necessary especially for their reputations.
Speculation was only going to increase had they not released a statement, image expert David Johnson of Strategic Vision told HollywoodLife.com exclusively. He continued on that the longer the silence went on, “the more damage to them and their brand and speculation.”
He continued going on to say that they simply needed to say it’s a “delicate situation” and that they’re “dealing with it as a family” — which is exactly what they did.
