February was a bad month for the American micro-blog Twitter. The shares dropped by 13 percent in just one day when a report showed that the site loses users.

According to the Guardian, one in three American users of the Twitter micro-blog have left since 2013, while the global growth has made the number of users to continue to rise.

This past year, the number of user accounts increased by 9 percent globally.

However, this quarter compared to the same quarter last year, shows no growth in the number of users and is in fact at the exact same level as last year.

This month it also became known that Twitter has started using "stealth blocking" to silence users Twitter believes are too politically uncomfortable to show.

Twitter was created in March 2006 by Jack Dorsey, Evan Williams, Biz Stone, and Noah Glass and launched in July 2006.

Twitter's turnover is 3 billion dollars in ad revenues, which is 9 percent of the total revenue all the world's social media sites make.
