Lionel Messi won his fifth Golden Ball on January 11, making him the most winning of the world's most appreciated individual award for a footballer.
If he wins even more, he will still do so wearing Barcelona's colors, said the 28-year-old to the Spanish newspaper Sport.
- I have always said that Barcelona is my home and that I want to end the career in European football in this club. I will never play for another European club, the legendary Argentine says.
Messi has recently been linked with a move to Premier League because of quarrels within Barcelona as well as tax issues with the Spanish government. But even if he now dismisses a transfer within Europe, we may still see Messi in another club in the future.
- I'd like to try Argentine football, says Messi who has never played club football in his home country. Nevertheless, he stressed that it is Barcelona he wants to play for in the foreseeable future.
Messi also stressed that he feels in better physical shape now than he has for a long time.
- I feel much better now than I did the last few years. In 2013 and 2014 I had several injuries and was not completely fit. Now I feel a spike. I think I'm back at the level I was three or four years ago, says Messi.
