A female zookeeper died when she was attacked by a tiger at a zoo south of Auckland in New Zealand, Sunday morning.
The emergency service was called out to the Hamilton Zoo, but was unable to save her life.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
- It is too early to say what happened, says Juliet Burgess from the police.
Some media reports say that the attack happened while the tiger's cage was cleaned, but this is not confirmed from official sources.
The police is working with the zoo to investigate the incident.
Also in 2012 a zookeeper lost his life after being attacked by a tiger at a safari park in New Zealand.
In 2009, a zookeeper at another zoo in the country was killed by an elephant.
