Violent riots broke out today in Horgos, a small Serbian city on the border with Hungary, after migrants attacked the Hungarian police for trying to enter illegally into the EU.
It all began when the migrants tried to storm the border to get into Hungary - and thus the EU - illegally, writes the British newspaper The Mirror.
Some women were pushed to the front of the crowd and held small babies and children above their heads as they faced police in an obvious appeal for mercy, but no one made it through.
Then Hungarian police, who waited on the other side of the fence, was attacked with stones and bottles, and they responded with tear gas and water cannons.
After a period of deadlock, the Hungarian riot police with shields, and supported by the heavily armed elite force TEK, stormed straight into the crowd, who quickly fled.
Six armored special vehicles also rolled into the area.
Police issued a statement accusing "aggressive" migrants of breaking through the fence.
At the moment, the migrants have started to regroup.
