The latest proposal emerging from Sweden
Open the borders and fetch more immigrants from the Third World - is what the left-liberal commentator Frederick Segerfeldt from the think-tank Timbro states in a post on Twitter.

"200 more migrants killed in the Mediterranean. When will this horror end? Open the borders now, head over with ferries and fetch people." writes Segerfeldt in his twitter post.

In fact what he proposes is that Sweden should send ferries to Libya to pick up migrants so that they shouldn't have to embark on the dangerous journey over the Mediterranean towards Europe.

The background for the Twitter post is that several hundred illegal immigrants earlier in the week were feared drowned just off the Libyan coast. The migrants had taken out to sea in a boat that was not intended for the open sea, with the conviction that they would be picked up by European vessels participating in an EU-led Frontex effort to ship migrants to Europe.

According to the Wallstreet Journal, the migrants suddenly saw an European vessel and therefore rushed to the same side of the boat in the hope of being rescued. Then the boat capsized and the migrants ended up in the water, where most of them drowned.

After the event, Segerfeldt believes that it is not enough to pick up migrants at sea, he wants to ship the illegal migrants directly from Libya to Sweden with passenger ferries.

However, according to the Swedish Coast Guard, it is not safe to bring Swedish ships to the Libyan coast.

- The security situation is such that the Coast Guard will not go to Libya with aircraft, ships, boats or personnel, as we can not guarantee our own safety, said the Coast Guard's spokesman Mattias Lindholm.
