Tesco decided Smokey BACON-flavour Pringles would be a good idea to offer Muslims in their Ramadan special, Metro reports.

For Muslims, eating pork is forbidden – so understandably many were confused by the offer.

Raza Hassan, 25, who spotted the promotion at a Tesco store in Liverpool Street, London, said he had found the deal ‘hilarious’.

He told Buzzfeed: ‘They had other flavours as well, it just seemed someone had stacked them in to the Ramadan promotional one by mistake! It didn’t offend me at all – but the irony of it was hilarious.’

It didn’t go unmissed on Twitter either.

"TESCO WISHES YOU A RAMADAN MUBARAK WITH SMOKEY BACON PRINGLES!..THAT'S ME COMPLETELY LOST FOR WORDS!", one Tweet said.

"Tesco's idea of wishing #Muslims Ramadan Mubarak by offering smokey bacon Pringles. Please tell me it's a mistake.", another Tweet said.

According to Metro, a spokesperson for Tesco said: ‘We are proud to offer a wide range of meals and products to meet the needs of our customers during Ramadan. We recognise these Pringles weren’t in the most suitable place and our store colleagues have now moved them.’
