61 people are confirmed dead and 37 are injured in a landslide northeast Colombia.
The village of Santa Margarita was almost leveled to the ground by the slide that struck while residents were still sleeping on Monday morning.
- Masses of water and mud tore up everything in its path, says the mayor of the village, Olga Osorio.
Heavy rain in the area is making the rescue work difficult, but Colombia's President Juan Manuel Santos on Monday flew into the area to show sympathy with the victims' families.
- No one can bring back the dead, which we can only regret. But we need to get through this disaster and look ahead with courage and strength, was the president's message.
