The Ica Maxi store in Swedish Växsjö is being heavily criticized after posting a picture of a stack melons on its Facebook page on Thursday.

The image was accompanied by the text "Tjejerna på fruktavdelingen har schyssta meloner!" Or "The girls in the fruit department have great melons!," which is the English translation.

It didn't go long before the comments field began to boil, writes Swedish Expressen. Several users said the message was harassment.

"This is intolerable. Fire the chauvinistic pig who thought this was funny", Paula Mellberg wrote under the picture. She was one of many who responded.

- I saw the picture as very unpleasant and offensive, she says to the newspaper.

"Fire the sexist pig who thought this was funny," writes another.

The store ultimately decided to remove the image from its Facebook page but retail and marketing manager Johan Herdeby believes that the melon reference certainly did not had anything to do with female breasts - just the wonderful melons they have in the shop.

- I think the words are funny. It has nothing to do with harassment. It's a picture of a stack of melons, I do not see what is oppressive, the store manager told Expressen.

He also says that it was the girls in the store who wanted to publish the image.
