The Chelsea player Eden Hazard was named the best player in the English Premier League on Sunday.

The 24-year-old Belgian has played a key role in the Chelsea team and after 0-0 against Arsenal on Sunday, Chelsea seems to have full control on the title. The London team is just two wins from securing the Premier League trophy for the first time since 2010.

Hazard has scored 18 goals for Chelsea in all competitions this season. In addition, he contributed to several assists.

- I am very pleased. The goal was to one day be the best, and I have achieved it this season. I've played very well and Chelsea have done the same. I do not know if it is deserved, but it's very nice for me, said Hazard during the ceremony on Sunday night.

- To be voted player of the year by the players is the best, because they know everything about football, he added.

Tottenham's Harry Kane was number two, while Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea came came third. Kane (21) was also voted as the young player of the year.

- This is a very proud moment for me and my family. Hopefully this is the first of many (prizes). I must continue to work hard, but to be recognized by the players is something special and something I definitely will not forget, said Kane.
