Hottest March since 1880
This year's month of March is the warmest the world has experienced since 1880, US researchers have concluded in a new report.

In March 2015 the global average temperature was 0.85 degrees Celsius above the average global temperature in 1900, says the report from researchers at the US government agency National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

It is the highest global temperature ever recorded for the month of March since recordings began in 1880 - ie 135 years ago - the researchers writes.

The previous global heat record for March was set in 2010. When the average temperature was 0.05 Celsius less than this year.
